Top 10 books to help you escape those hospital room walls!
Dreary walls, endless corridors, uncomfortable chairs and plenty of worrying thoughts racing around your head: spending time in hospital, whether as an inpatient, outpatient or visitor, is often long and stressful with a dose of boring thrown in for good measure. While well-thumbed waiting room magazines with their celebrity tittle-tattle and the latest social media ‘news’ offer some brief distraction, nothing can beat a good book to help you really escape the confines and worries of hospital!
But, which book to choose?
Researching and making decisions is not something you are good at right now with your mind otherwise occupied and what if the one you select ends up being a tear jerker? That is the last thing you need! We get it because we’ve been ‘there’ – both as a patient, and as an ever-patient companion – and so we asked the expert team at one of the UK’s best independent book shops to recommend books that can help you escape the confines of those hospital walls.
Below are Mr. B’s top 10 reading picks to give patients and their support ‘team’ some relief from the realities of the health situation they are facing. Each book was selected because it has the power to transport the reader to another world; is engaging, fun and avoids ‘the darker side of things’.
To find out more about each book – see its’ cover and read a short synopsis, as well as to order it online or benefit from the Bath-based bookstore’s generous 15% discount for INGA Wellbeing followers – please click on the links below.
